See the TIBCO Spotfire System Requirements page for a detailed description of the system requirements for TIBCO Spotfire 2.1.0.
- First install/upgrade the TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Server to version 10.1.0
- Install TIBCO Spotfire 2.1.0 Client
- Finally deploy TIBCO Spotfire 2.1.0 on the TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Server 10.1.0
- If an unrecoverable error occurs the recommendation is to click Continue, save the current analysis under a new name and restart the application. Depending on the type of error this file might be broken, and cannot be loaded properly.
- Large Fonts (120DPI) sometimes causes lower half of screen and the rightmost part of the screen to be outside the physical screen.
- It is not possible to copy/paste more than 255 characters in a single cell from Excel.
- Date values in column names which have the cell formatting "d/m/yyyy" are interpreted as "m/d/yyyy" when importing from Excel.
- Avoid defining an update schedule for data table using a personalized
information link. In other words, always use the "No sharing" alternative in the last step of the Save wizard
for such data tables. This is the default value. Selecting other values may in certain cases result in unwanted sharing of personalized data.
- When installing on a 64-bit operating system the .NET framework must be
pre-installed on the machine.
- If the .NET 2.0 framework is not previously installed it is always installed without
prompting.
- The automatic download mechanism will fail if a restricted user tries to install
the application as an administrator by choosing “Run As Administrator”.
- Not more than one administrator should simultaneously upload deployments.
- It is not possible to connect to a server from a machine in another NT domain by
using Run As when launching Spotfire.
- If the product localization is defined as a user group preference, a client restart
is required after the first contact with the server for the changes to be fully applied
and taken into use. Note that clients are not informed of the fact that such a restart is required.
It is also important that the appropriate localization packages are published to the Analytics Server
prior to setting the user group preference.
Note that the correct Language pack and the matching server preference must be set on the very first
server that the user connects to. Changing the settings on the Server will not have any effect.
If the localization group preference does not have any effect, it can be enforced on clients using Tools | Options.
- Hardware graphics acceleration may not work on older graphics cards or if the
drivers are not up to date.
- Certain graphics cards and drivers lead to crashes, slow response times, blank
visualizations, or missing shapes when Spotfire hardware acceleration is used.
This is known to happen on Dell Dimension 9200 / NVidia 7900 Graphics driver:
version 7.15.11.5824 but may happen on other system configurations as well.
Upgrading to the latest graphics driver may resolve these issues. If not,
hardware acceleration can be turned off under Tools > Options > Application.
- Using Identifier mapping for shape files in the map chart is not supported on
64-bit operating systems (Requires JET Driver not yet available on 64-bit
windows).
- ESRI Shape Files may not be larger than 50 MB.
- Filtering in the Data Relationships results table will prevent re-calculating
the Data Relationships. If the filters are reset Data Relationships can be
re-calculated again.
- Renaming columns created by K-means Clustering or Line Similarity may cause calculated columns
and hierarchies based on the K-means and Line Similarity columns to become invalid. For this reason,
the recommendation is to avoid renaming K-means and Line Similarity columns that are used for such purposes.
- Using "limit data by marking" for a line chart used in K-means or Line similarity may produce unexpected
results if data is reloaded or when using an on-demand table. The reason is that the marking may be different.
Turn off the "limit data by marking" feature to avoid this kind of issues.
