Operating System Supported for All Customers:
    Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 32- or 64-bit versions
    Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1 or higher, 32- or 64-bit versions
    Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP4 or higher

Supported for Upgrading Customers Only:
    Sun Solaris 8 with J2SE Solaris 8 Recommended Patch Cluster
    Sun Solaris 9 with J2SE Solaris 9 Recommended Patch Cluster
    Sun Solaris 10 with J2SE Solaris 10 Recommended Patch Cluster

NOTE: All operating systems must be installed by the customer prior to Spotfire software installation.
Processor For Windows: Intel Pentium 4, 2 GHz or higher
For Sun Solaris: UltraSparc IIIi, 1 GHz or higher
RAM 2 GB recommended (1 GB minimum)
Hard disk space 1 GB of free space to complete installation
500 MB for base server software to execute
Recommended 10 GB or greater when TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Server 10.1 is configured with database on the same machine.

NOTE: A bundled Oracle 10g XE database can optionally be installed by the TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Server installer. When using that option, first make sure that the Oracle system requirement (listed here) are met.

NOTE: In order to use an existing Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database (instead of Oracle 10g XE, which is packaged with the TIBCO Spotfire Analytics server), please note that this is third-party software that must be installed by the customer prior to the Spotfire software installation.

NOTE: When upgrading a TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Server running on Solaris, using an existing Oracle Enterprise/Standard database is the only supported option.

NOTE: The TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Server installation requires three database schemas to be created. The three schemas together require minimum 512 MB and the size can grow up to totally 4800 MB, unless restricted by database limitations.
Authentication Method One of following:

  • LDAP (e.g. Microsoft Active Directory, Sun Java System Directory Server)
  • Kerberos v5 for Active Directory
  • NTLM
  • Microsoft Windows NT Domain
  • Database Table (Spotfire Analytics server used to both manage and store usernames and passwords)
  • Custom JAAS modules using username/password credentials
  • X.509 client certificates (limited to one certificate per CA per Windows profile)
Installation Privileges on Windows TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Server 10.1 must be installed under a Windows user account with full administrative privileges.
Locale The server should run in an English (United States) language setting.
Performance Recommendations for Library Service Usage Database instance to be on a separate machine from TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Server machine.

2 GB instance for a Library Service with 100 users.

With 100 licensed users of Library Service, Spotfire recommends a server fulfilling the minimal TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Server system requirements.

With 1000 licensed users of Library Service, Spotfire recommends the following basic configurations:
  • Windows Architecture: A 4 core server with 4GB RAM
  • Solaris Architecture: A 4 core UltraSPARC IIIi or UltraSPARC IV/IV+ system, or an eight core UltraSPARC T1 system, with 8GB RAM
VMWare (Optional) TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Server can (optionally) be run on VMWare Server 1.0.3
